‘DOT’

Inspired by real world systems and wicked problems in cyber.

This most recent project, having gained traction since living in Cheltenham, UK, known as ‘the cyber capital of the UK’, extends beyond the remit of ‘Alpha’ and ‘Ground Truth’ into sectors such as cyber security and quantum computing, along with cybernetics, the science of communication and automatic control systems in both machines and living beings.

The early stages of this project have been weighted in research, networking and developing conceptual ideas. This initial incubation period allows for experimental thoughts, ideas and activities to inform the next phase of the project and opens up the pathway to tangibility and access to feedback.

As this project is my most recent, it has been influenced by more current topics such as quantum computing and nano materials. I continue to be interested in data sets and how they can represent non-tangible aspects of cyber, for example how bird song can represent digital signals. ‘Data in the Wind’, a temporary installation in the forest, with the ribbons blowing naturally in various movements, is a visual representation of the movement of data through electromagnetic waves that we don’t experience as humans. The ribbons also link back to ‘Ground Truth’ and the bird scaring techniques that I witnessed in Bali, where ribbons and plastic bags are tied to string across the rice fields. This is when I first started to think about the wind as a medium for my work, and ‘DOT’ is also enabling me to explore light as a meduim,

More recently I’ve been interested in exploring identity. With the advent of AI Agents and all that can be created, the question of how to identify all of this has become a wicked problem. Therefore I’ve been exploring how my unique combination of research can conceptually aspire to solve this problem through the creation of bio-identifiers. Please do get in touch if you feel that this is something that you are interested to collaborate on together, offering a technical point of view. I’m interested to continue to pursue cryptography, as this links to Cheltenham as the place where public-key cryptography was invented between 1969-1975, as modern heritage.
